Preceptorship
A preceptorship is a period of structured transition to guide and support newly qualified practitioners from being students to professionals who can work independently.
CCS offers a 12-month preceptorship programme to new registrants, internationally trained practitioners, return to practice practitioners and those transitioning into new settings.
How the preceptorship programme works
You are assigned a preceptor, who serves as a role model during the 12-month programme. They will have a minimum of 12 months experience within your work area and be at the same level or more senior to you. Preceptors will also have completed a training workshop in order to be able to provide support.
During your first year after registration, you will receive regular support from your preceptor. You will be given development goals and these will be reviewed regularly. You will be allowed protected time within your work hours to meet your preceptor and discuss your development.
