• What we do

  We support all pre and post-registration multi-professional clinical learners across the Trust – apprentices, pre-registration undergraduate students, post-registration students and offer work experience opportunities.

  The team also link closely with colleges and universities to provide pre-professional employment support, attend university open days to promote the Trust as a future employer and support with university student recruitment.

  We support clinical services to maintain high-quality clinical learning environments and placements, ensuring learners are appropriately allocated to services and supported if they have any challenges or concerns.  

  We ensure that our placement areas have either practice educators (allied health professionals) or practice supervisors and assessors (nursing and midwifery), as they have a key role in supporting and assessing learners in practice. They serve as a role model to students in delivering safe and effective care, promoting the values of the Trust and the NHS constitution. To support this, we ensure our practice educators, practice supervisors and assessors are prepared for their roles and responsibilities when working with learners.

  We provide support and advice for clinical services, staff and learners relating to clinical practice placements and we liaise with universities and other trusts to plan the delivery of placement capacity. 

• The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code

  The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code contains the professional standards that nurses and midwives must uphold. It states that nurses are expected, as part of their role, to support learners and colleagues learning to help them develop their professional competence and confidence. This ensures that skills, knowledge and experience are shared for the benefit of everyone.

• Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)

  The HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and the Standards of Proficiency state that AHPs must work in partnership with colleagues, sharing their skills, knowledge and experience where appropriate, for the benefit of service users and carers (Standard 2.5 of the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics).  

• Career Resources Portal

  The Career Resources Portal is an online platform which offers practical tools and resources designed to help support you at every stage of your career development.

  The tools and resources offered include career assessments aptitude tests, E-learning paths, interview simulators and elevator pitch builders.

  You can access the Career Resources Portal through the Leadership Academy Online Learning Platform. You will need to register for an account and then click on Programmes.
